Yr 7 Masterminds

An exciting new programme has been introduced for year 7 called Masterminds. The main aim of this course is to develop students' thinking skills and to maximise their learning potential.
At the completion of the course students will be able to use a variety of thinking skills, implement problem solving strategies, become creative and critical thinkers and to become autonomous and life long learners.
Students are encouraged to develop their thinking skills through enrichment and extension activities.
Masterminds concentrates on the fun of learning with the aim of increasing awareness of thinking and organization skills. Students have looked at the use of the school diary, preferred learning styles (auditory, visual, kinaesthetic) and the function of the right and left sides of the brain. Their activities have included discussion with peer support groups, looking at optical illusions on the internet, an auditory task about a poem called Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and brain buster puzzles.
